You can stitch it on white or black aida, using simple black/white or variegated floss. For full pixel-look keep good tension and make stitches that allow full coverage:
18ct - 3 threads for colors, 4 threads for black
14ct - 4 threads for colors, 5 threads for black
11ct - 5 threads for colors, 6 threads for black
